Welcome back, Fourth Graders!
I am happy to be your teacher and I am excited that you are in my classroom! I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work with you. I am married to Chad and we have two children. Ashley, a cosmetologist, works in Grand Forks and Sarah is at the Crookston High School. I am looking forward to a fun-filled and hands-on learning-centered year!
This school year seems to be just around the corner and I hope we have a great year, one that helps us to grow in our faith, studies, and have fun at the same time. The beginning of the year will see us conducting experiments, meeting our old friends, participating in Mass, and learning how to paint. These are just a few of the cool things we will do.
In order to be a successful 4th grader, it is important to read a minimum of 120 minutes per week and fill out a weekly book report form. Fourth graders MUST KNOW their basic facts: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division! Please practice basic facts at least twice a week; it really does make a difference.
Parents: Every day your child will bring home an Assignment Book, where he/she will write down any work that was not completed in school. This will tell you what your child needs to work on. Each Friday your child will bring home a Home and School Communication folder with all of your child’s work for that week and a weekly progress report.
The 4th grade class will have a homework/behavior incentive entitled Let’s Work Together. At the beginning of each week every student gets 6 tickets. Each ticket is worth 10 points. If a student does not turn in a homework assignment or has a behavioral issue, he or she loses a ticket. Every Friday, at the end of the day, students can “cash in” their tickets for coupons that give them special privileges.
